Assessment and Referral Officer

Based in the Inner Western Suburbs, we are looking for professional Assessment & Referral Officers to join our Operations team on a part-time basis (late and overnight shifts).

Your primary activity is to engage and support clients of On the Line while providing professional, specialist telephone assessment, referral and information services, and assisting with the moderation and community building of our forums and other social media platforms.

You will also identify clients or third parties at high risk.

General administrative duties include accurately entering statistical data, using a range of computer and online programs, updating case notes, and assisting with service evaluations.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Diploma in Community Services, Social work, Welfare, Psychology or Counselling (minimum) or equivalent
  • As a 24 x 7 service centre, this role will require you to work late and overnight shifts (11pm-7am)
  • Ability to undertake needs assessment with callers within limited timeframes
  • Knowledge of depression, anxiety and associated issues, particularly primary care pathways
  • Knowledge of suicide prevention, child abuse and/or family violence issues (preferable)
  • High level of computer literacy with the ability to pick up new programs and systems quickly
  • Current Working with Children Check (or willing to apply for one upon offer of employment)
  • Current Police Check (no more than 6 months old) or willing to apply for one.

Counsellors (1800 Respect)

Based in the Inner Western Suburbs, we have exciting opportunities for professional counsellors to join our 1800 Respect team.

Your role is to provide professional, specialist counselling, information and referrals to clients affected by Domestic and Family Violence via telephone.

You’ll also engage and support our clients by managing risk, providing counselling and communicating options for on-going support.

General administrative duties include accurately entering statistical data, using a range of computer and online programs, updating case notes, and assisting with research and service evaluations.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Tertiary degree or Tertiary degree min 3 yrs plus a post graduate degree/diploma in a relevant discipline, or of equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 456 hours of professional clinical counselling contact experience which may include placement experience if deemed relevant
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches to support individuals who have experienced Domestic and/or Family Violence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in crisis counselling and suicide prevention
  • As a 24 x 7 service centre, you will be required to work a rotating roster that includes evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to undertake needs assessment with callers within limited time frames
  • High level of computer literacy with the ability to pick up new programs and systems quickly
  • Current Working with Children Check (or willing to apply for one)
  • Current Police Check (no more than 6 months old) (or willing to apply for one)
