Suicide Call Back Service receives funding boost
On the Line welcomes the news that Suicide Call Back Service will receive an additional $400,000 in funding from the Department of Health. This funding boost will help the service to meet the increased demand from people needing to talk to counsellors in their time of need.
Suicide Call Back Service, delivered by On the Line, is a nationwide service that provides telephone, video and online counselling to people 15 years and older who are affected by suicide. Professionally trained counsellors answer calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kim O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer at On the Line, said, “On the Line is excited that Suicide Call Back Service is included in the digital mental health package announced by Health Minister Greg Hunt. Suicide Call Back Service is a trusted service that answers over 19,500 calls in a year. We continue to see an upsurge in calls and this funding means we can continue to deliver this vital service to Australians.”
