Timeline

On the Line was established by Dr Cunningham Dax, who was deeply concerned about mental health in Australia. In the 1960s he set up Personal Emergency Services Australia in Victoria offering a confidential and anonymous telephone counselling service for people in crisis who were hesitant to seek face-to-face counselling. Since then, On the Line has evolved to become a leading telephone and online counselling provider, delivering professional support to thousands of Australians each year.
